Help Desk Follow-Up Liberia

The Swedish government is expected to approve the new strategy for Swedish development cooperation with Liberia in the coming months. As part of the efforts to operationalize the strategy, Sida will be tasked to develop an implementation plan, analyze and propose how the expected objectives will be achieved and by what type of grants and collaborative approaches that could be done. To analyze factors in the country that has the potential of negatively or positively affect the results of the Swedish development cooperation, and to program development cooperation in ways that prevent conflict and avoid causing harm to the conflict situation in the country, the Embassy in Monrovia ordered a comparative analytical study of power /conflict relationships in Liberia from the "Help Desk" which is administered by the department Humasien, Sida Stockholm. The study will contribute to the work of the Embassy related to the above mentioned operationalization process. It is hereby proposed that the embassy in Monrovia funds the travel expenses on behalf of Owen Greene, lead author of the report, to assure his participation in a pre-operationalization seminar organized in cooperation with the Folke Bernadotte Academy in November 2015. The main aim of the participation is to report on the study's conclusions. The intervention is therefore of a supportive nature. The cost of the consultancy fees will be covered by the Help Desk.
