UN Women has applied to Sida for funding of 4 057 495 SEK to carry out the Gender Sector Support Program 2014-2017 Preparatory phase (GSSP) during 2015. The intervention aims to work with stakeholders to develop a 4-year program that can respond to the strategic needs, create significant institutional gains for the national gender machinery and meet the strategic needs of civil society organizations working for women's rights. The program is also set to support the government's efforts in the recovery after the Ebola epidemic, particularly regarding women's livelihoods. This will be done through the development of baselines for future monitoring, by engaging stakeholders in both the government and civil society to identify institutional and capacity gaps, by mapping the international donor support for gender equality in Liberia, as well as by producing baselines around the institutional preparedness to respond to the recommendations of the nationwide assessment of the socio-economic impact of Ebola on women and girls. The intervention's total budget is USD 471,900. Sida is the only donor.
