Excellence in Higher Education for Liberian Development

(Liberia): The Excellence in Higher Education for Liberian Development (EHELD) project's objective is to build regionally recognized and competitive academic Centers of Excellence (CoEs) that produce graduates who become leading professionals and entrepreneurs in the fields of engineering and agriculture in Liberia. FY 2014 higher education funds will assist Cuttington University and the University of Liberia in creating CoEs that will utilize up-to-date curricula, use best-practice teaching methodologies and materials, and utilize facilities that are conducive to learning. Funds will also continue supporting the development of student pipeline programs that identify high potential secondary school graduates to study agriculture and engineering. With FY 2014 funds, the EHELD project will continue to engage leaders in business, government, and the NGO community in order to maintain already-established partnerships and to solicit additional scholarship and internship opportunities for students.
