Partnership for Advancing Community-based Services (PACS)
(Liberia): USAID will use FY 2017 funds to increase the availability and utilization of community-based health, social welfare and WASH services in three counties. These funds will build the capacity of MOH) and local organizations to deliver community health and social services; improve health communications and health-seeking behavior and practices for improved maternal, newborn and child health including the importance of delivery by a skilled birth attendant, danger signs related to maternal, newborn and child illnesses ; support implementation of community-led total sanitation and sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene; and mitigate the impact of the Ebola outbreak through the restoration of essential health services at the community level in three additional counties. USAID will also support the implementation of an integrated package of community based services through the newly trained Community Health Assistants (CHA).
Objectives for Liberia: The specific objectives of the activity are to: Build local capacity to implement and manage programs; Increase availability of sustainable and quality community based health services; Promote demand for and provision of community health and social (child) welfare services; and Improve safe water supply and sanitation at the community level.
