Uganda - Water Supply and Sanitation Programme - Phase II
Phase 2 of the Water Supply and Sanitation Program (WSSAP 2) is an extension of the AfDB Group's programmatic support to the Government of Uganda for improved water supply and sanitation. sanitation is at the heart of the country's National Development Plan (NDP-II) priorities. PAEA 2 aims to contribute to improving the health and productivity of the population through the provision of water and sanitation services to a target population of 1.43 million people (51.4%). women). The program, to be implemented nationwide over four years, favors the establishment of gravity-fed water systems and small solar installations for rural beneficiaries in all regions, and the development of urban water supply systems in small towns under the Central Region Water Supply and Sanitation Facility.
The overall goal of the program is to contribute to improving the health and well-being of the population through the provision of safe water and sanitation services. Specifically, the program contributes to achieving a water and sanitation target of 77% by 2020 and will provide additional access to 1.43 million people over the period 753 000 people by 2020.
The direct beneficiaries of the program are the populations of which 77% will have access to water and sanitation by 77% by 2020. Artisans (30% of women) will benefit from training and young people and women will see their skills. autonomy strengthened through the creation of income-generating activities along the value chain of water, sanitation and watershed valorization. The associated faecal sludge treatment stations will be equipped with removal units, which will help solve the problem of emptying toilets and septic tanks in schools and informal settlements.
