Scaling up interventions of Tuberculosis Prevention, Control, Treatment, Care, and Support in Uganda

The program supported by this grant aims to reduce TB-related sickness and death and thereby contribute to national goals of expanded economic growth, increased social development and poverty eradication. Grant funds are being used to provide a regular, uninterrupted supply of quality anti-TB drugs to TB patients, including MDR-TB patients, while increasing access to quality bacteriology for TB diagnosis. TB/HIV collaborative activities are being expanded and strengthened country wide in conjunction with efforts to build up community mobilization for TB control. Program capacity to manage, monitor and evaluate interventions is also being reinforced. The entire Ugandan population of 28 million will benefit from social mobilization and improved health seeking behavior that is expected to result from these interventions.
