Uganda Emergency Nutrition in Karamojo - Action Against Hunger Canada 2008

Despite improvements in security in northern Uganda over the last year, the Karamajo region in the North Eastern part of the country continues to be plagued by conflict, the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, poor economic conditions and alarming humanitarian indicators. A very recent survey done by the World Food Programme and health authorities in Karamora, eastern Uganda, shows that the malnutrition situation has reached rates well over emergency thresholds. Through this project, Action contre la faim [action against hunger] provides and improves access to treatment for acute severely malnourished children less than 5 years of age in Kaabong and Moroto districts, Karamoja.
