Emergency Health and Nutrition Assistance in Uganda - Action Against Hunger 2010
The nutrition situation in northern Uganda deteriorated in 2009. The region of Karamoja represents the greatest concern with Global Acute Malnutrition rates remaining consistently above 10% (national alert level). The overall objective of this project is to ensure a sustainable reduction of mortality due to acute malnutrition among children less than 5 years old in Kaabong and Moroto districts in Karamoja sub-region. This project aims at increasing and maintaining the capacity of communities and the district health systems in prevention, detection, referral and treatment of acute malnutrition while at the same time strengthening their food security and household resilience to food-related shocks.
