Rights and Rule of Law
(Uganda): .The Rights and Rule of Law (RROL) activity implemented by Freedom House supports judicial independence, effective civil society, human rights advocacy, and media freedom in Uganda. As the space for civil society and the media to operate especially in the areas of freedom of assembly and expression is expected to continue shrinking, the role of the judiciary, civil society and media will be critical in addressing rights and rule of law issues in Uganda. With FY 2017 funds, the activity will support that role through human rights training of women judges, judicial officials and journalists. It will support continuous professional development opportunities for judges and magistrates, civil society and media actors and also support strategic litigation to uphold human rights. RROL will also continue to work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex organizations that work with state institutions, and other non-state actors in the promotion of human rights. . ......
