Real-time information and support quality of public service delivery in Uganda
Pulse Lab Kampala, under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Sports and in collaboration with the BTC and partners, will develop 6 pilot applications to inform and monitor, in real time quality of public service in Uganda. The applications are:
1. Application for real-time monitoring of performance of ambulances
2. Application to monitor, in real time, financing of the health sector
3. Application for real-time analysis of radio content on health service delivery
4. Application to inform development of policies and programme on BTVET
5. Application for monitoring, in real time, budgeting and expenditure on education sector
6. Application for real-time analysis of radio content to inform BTVET and teacher training programme
The applications will use Big Data, real-time analytics and visualization techniques to inform and monitor in real time, public service delivery in Uganda. The applications will focus on the geographical areas where BTC, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Sports are implementing programmes to strengthen quality of public service delivery and it will also support programme implementation with real-time monitoring and insights.
Pulse Lab Kampala (http://www.unglobalpulse.org/kampala) is the third Lab in the UN Global Pulse network (http://www.unglobalpulse.org/about-new). The Lab opened its doors in 2015 as an inter-agency initiative of the United Nations under the UN Resident Coordinator in Uganda. The first of its kind in East Africa, the Lab supports the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and the Government of Uganda by bringing together partners from academia and the private sector to collaboratively develop new approaches for Big Data Analytics and Data Innovation to achieve the Global Goals.
