AGRI SKILLING FOR YOUTH (ABSYR)

The project works within the agro sector and aims at providing youth of refugees and host communities opportunities to make a living in agriculture and agribusiness activities. The project generates employment opportunities by providing life skills, agro skilling and business support services. It follows a market-led approach, linking the youth to available service providers and market players. As part of the skilling, psychosocial support is provided to the traumatized and distressed refugee youth. In addition, supportive community infrastructures initiatives related to land and water management are initiated in support of the income related activities (valley dams), mitigating climate effects reforestation) and improved food security in the area. The project will impact lives of 5000 youth directly and addi-tional 20.000 indirectly. The proposal addresses the policy priority on migration and promotion of refugee assistance in the region. It works within the Ugandan Government frame work for support to refugee and hosts communities in an integrated system of service provision, addressing both direct needs (relief) and long-term development.
