Ambassaden har fått en förfrågan av ECOWAS att finansiera projektet "Transitional Support to the ECOWAS Regional Radio" med 11,2 miljoner kronor under perioden juli 2018 till september 2019. Huvudsyftet med stödet är att tillhandahålla övergångsstöd till ECOWAS Radio som syftar till att bidra till främjandet av lokala fredsbyggande initiativ i Liberia, samtidigt som radions kapacitet stärks för att garantera en smidig expansion till samtliga 15 medlemsländerna i ECOWAS. Stödet förväntas bidra till att: - ECOWAS förstärker sin operativa kapacitet att arbeta med radiosändning samtidigt som organisationen utvecklar sin kapacitet att expandera sina radiofaciliteter till alla 15 medlemsstater i Västafrika. -ECOWAS använder radio för att skapa strategiska partnerskap med civilsamhällesorganisationer, media och allmänheten för att skapa en plattform för främjande av fred och utveckling i Liberia.

ECOWAS has applied to The Embassy of Sweden for funding of 11,2 million SEK to carry out the “Transitional Support to the ECOWAS Regional Radio” during July 2018 to September 2019. The main objective of the intervention is to provide transitional support to the ECOWAS radio that will contribute to the promotion of local peacebuilding initiatives in Liberia, while building the capacity of the radio to guarantee a smooth expansion to cover the 15 countries in the West African sub-region. Two main outcomes are expected to be achieved by the intervention: - ECOWAS solidifies its operational capability to maintain broadcast of its radio station while developing its capacity to expand its radio facilities to all 15 countries in West Africa; and -ECOWAS Utilizes radio programming to establish strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, other media/communication institutions, and the public so as to create a reliable platform for the promotion of peace and development in Liberia.
