SVENSKA: Sveriges ambassad i Monrovia har mottagit en förfrågan om finansiering från International Alert gällande en program som ska implementeras genom en pilotfas under 2016 till ett belopp av 5 000 000 kronor. I programmet ingår två delprojekt inom området mänsklig säkerhet: SAFE Communities - Community Actions for Everybody (hädanefter SAFE), och Community Platform for Promoting Peaceful Engagement in the Management of Natural Resources (hädanefter CPPE-NRM). Båda projekten syftar till att öka medborgerligt deltagande och sporra lokal- och civilsamhälleligt engagemang för säkerhetsfrågor genom att främja mekanismer för ansvarsutkrävande i förhållande till regeringen, specifikt säkerhetssektorn, och privata företag som använder sig av naturresurser. Bidraget kommer att omfatta en pilotfas, dvs uppstartsaktiviteter som kommer att ligga till grund för eventuell programfinansiering under 2017, och är därför av förberedande karaktär. ENGLISH: The Swedish embassy in Monrovia has received a request for funding from International Alert of a program inception phase to be implemented during 2016 to the amount of 5 000 000 SEK. The program includes two sub-projects within the area of human security: SAFE Communities - Community Actions for Everybody (hereafter SAFE) and Community Platform for Promoting Peaceful Engagement in the Management of Natural Resources (hereafter CPPE-NRM). Both projects aim to increase citizen's participation and galvanise community and civil society action around security issues through promotion of accountability mechanisms in relation to the government, more specifically to the security services, and to private companies making use of natural resources. The contribution will cover an inception phase, i.e. start up activities that will lay the ground for future engagement as of 2017, and is therefore of a preparatory nature.

This project contributes to enhancing citizen's access to quality and responsive security services through promoting inclusive participation of people in defending their rights and the strengthening of accountable police-citizen relationships. It also targets improving transparency, accountability and trust around concession agreements between government, companies and communities.
