Support to Education in Liberia
The project aimed to improve access to pre-school and primary education for boys and girls, through school meals, in counties characterized by low education indicators, high levels of chronic food insecurity and malnutrition. The project addressed outcome 4.1 in the 2008-2012 United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and a priority in the Government's 2008-2011 Poverty Reduction Strategy.
The activity pursued four outcomes, linked to WFP Strategic Objectives 4 and 5 including: increased enrolment of boys and girls; increased attendance of boys and girls; reduced dropout rates, especially for girls, and increased government capacity to manage the school feeding programme.
