Voucher Plus Activity

(Uganda): USAID will complement the new SIDA/World Bank RH voucher program to increase access among poor women to skilled care during pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. The project will support: pregnant women to deliver under skilled attendance; pregnant women to attend at least 4 antenatal care (ANC) visits; women with HIV to receive PMTCT; and mothers to access post-natal care. The project focuses on safe delivery, capacity building and project management. The safe delivery component provides subsidized vouchers to poor pregnant women to access a package of safe delivery services from contracted service providers. The package will also include preventing mother-to-child transmission and malaria prevention services as part of ANC. The component on capacity building and project management will support project management functions and build national capacity to mainstream and scale-up implementation of the voucher scheme in the health sector.
